...has terrible controls. The control scheme in this game is trash. No button mapping, awkward controls. Mankind Divided had input lag and THIS Deus game has SET controls. What is wrong with Square Enix and why don't they allow flexibility in their games or make us of helpful updates? LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!
INPUT LAG!
Amazing retro shooter. Aesthetically VERY pleasing. Also, the controls are fluid and intuitive. The foundation of every fps should be fluid controls and they nailed it here. One downside is the very, very bad menu option layout. Totally NOT intuitive - clunky and confusing.
Colorful but empty and uninspired.
Congrats to Hyperstrange for doing the impossible. Making a modern game, that is clean, simple, easy to play and FUN. No "message" or an elaborate storyline, just meat and potatoes sword swinging. Haven't finished it yet, but so far, so good.
It makes me so incredibly sad to leave this review, because in terms of the game itself it's nearly a 5. In the world we live in currently, irreverent games are few and far between. Games like this are needed desperately. And by "games like this", I mean FUN games. Did Running With Scissors need to make this game? No. But this is the human condition. Sometimes we don't NEED to do things, you just do things because you can. Unfortunately, I have to give this game a 1-star rating because it is so INCREDIBLY UNOPTIMIZED. Yes, I am aware the game is in development, but that would be an understatement with this outing. This is not a AAA game with bleeding edge graphics. The insanely low framerates and stuttering are on a whole other level here.

The overcomplex and unintuitive controls ruin what is otherwise a great game. Camera angles are weird and not conducive to getting an unobstructed picture of the levels. Great graphics and scenery though. Game developers take note: a game can be challenging, rich and complex without feeling like you have to man a spaceship from your keyboard and mouse.
Stale RPGs are a dime a dozen these days. While this game attempts to be different, it seems to be too heavily reliant on dialogue and uses a scenic world as a crutch.
This game is fluid, colorful and fun. Enemies are easy to see and the game does a great job of not being too cluttered. It's definitely one of the best shooters I've ever played by virtue of it's smoothness and overall just ease of use. Some may like it, some may not, but one issue no one will run into is being frustrated or confused by what this game is - it's an fps, and it just works. GOOD FUN!
