SOMA

dumb

The story is idiotic and infantile, not deep. I'm sorry that you're still upset your grandma made you go to church once. The gameplay is REALLY BAD because of forced-on consolepoor settings like depth of field, head bob and motion blur. It really feels terrible to play.

Starbound

bad knockoff

The movement and combat mechanics are so bad it's unbelievable. Some art assets are directly copy-pasted from Terraria.

UnderRail

Promising, but...

I mostly* enjoyed Underrail up until the endgame content, which was irredeemably unfun. I probably won't touch this game again until they add modding tools. Most annoying things for me: 1. Backtracking for hours on almost every quest 2. Looting ends up worthless because you can barely sell anything, even if you visit every single vendor in the game every 90 minutes 3. missing "95%" attacks 4 times in a row - just make max hit percent 100 ffs 4. serious lack of AOE options for most builds 5. asymmetry of combat options - by this I mean, something like crippling strike or acid entrapment is immensely more unfair when your opponents use it than when you do, since you are fighting 1 vs 10+ 5. music loops are too short for #1 and end up very repetitive. Core city is the worst offender. *when the RNG was behaving

Kenshi

Refreshing

The most interesting and immersive game I've played since the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. If something annoys you about the design, it can effortlessly be modded out (e.g. blood spider attack range). Fascinating world design. Great music. Good UI. Unlike virtually all RPG games, the combat mechanics are actually well-designed and fun. Highly recommend.

UnderRail: Expedition

intentionally annoying

While the flaws of the main game (cryptic/directionless character creation, endless backtracking, worthless vendors, exploration being pointless, certain fights being literally impossible for certain builds) are just barely tolerable, I found the combat encounters in expedition unbelievably unfun, even the easy ones. And there's no real way to play the DLC quests without extensive fighting. If you enjoy being frustrated by RNG and save-scumming 100 times a session, then the atmosphere and story are pretty cool.

STRAFE: Gold Edition

Decent, but...

Nothing is really old school about this game because of slow reloads and the fact there aren't enough health and armor pickups to make playing fast feasible. Despite that, it play pretty well as long as you go into it with the correct expectations Not enough customization available with the settings - mouse sensitivity steps are too large, just let us manually insert a number please the last patch completely removed a full 1/4 of the stages for some reason, and the only other thing I notice that it did is add 1 weak but annoying enemy. Seriously, just why. It was a 3* before.
