Fallout: London

overhyped

i really wanted to like this mod, but alas, i did not. it has all of the problems of regular fallout 4 (subpar writing, lack of freedom of choice, middling environment/level design, etc) without any of the high points and a ton of new problems. negatives: most of the quests are more or less copy/pasted from the basegame. the dialogue choices often feel stilted and awkward. the map is pretty much just boston, except without any of the interesting verticality that made fo4 boston fun to play in. most locations feel like quest markers rather than actual, fleshed-out places. crafting/modding is an absolute pain in the early game thanks to a lack of settlement building locations and oddly placed crafting stations. i personally ran a melee build, but i've heard that building for guns makes combat awful. there are like 3 sidequests in total, so you're forced to do the main quest to make any progress. naval walkers were a *great* enemy to put in your melee focused mod, guys. positives: i like the butterfly knife animations. good loadscreen art. the thamesfolk are neat looking. i felt pretty cool smoking a cigarette. to be fair, i only got to about the 10 hour mark, so maybe it picks up later, but those first 10 hours were SUCH a drag that it just didn't feel worth it to go any further. there's so many other, much better games out there. this one really isn't worth your time.
