I remember the first time I ever got to stroll around in the world of Star Wars inside any game. That Was Dark Forces. It was mind blowing. Fast Forward to NightDive's remaster and I feel every bit of that exhileration. They handled the trickiness of keeping the overall art style and feel, and even game play, while adding things like a modern weapons wheel and other things that we just assume will be in a game that just didn't exist when FPS shooters were first being forged. This is a piece of history and culture, and is an amazing experience. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the experience of being Kyle Katarn.
This is pretty much the Pinnacle of experiencing being a Jedi in video games. 1997's Jedi Knight laid the ground work with what technology was available, but this game is the best. You live in the Star Wars (pre-Disney) and feel that magnificent world. you have powers, but its not OP, like in Force Unleashed. There are puzzles, and lots of story and a great mix of fighting and adventure. It also has the best Lightsaber combat you'll find.
I love this game. As far as single player flight action goes, this is It! the setting is far off, but with mostly recognizable fighters, but with plenty of fantasy. The world is fleshed out just enough and the voice acting is good and the game play is stellar! You advance through a campaign with a story, but there is also a conquest mode and both are amazing. You can only unlock the best craft after beating the story mode once through. There are plenty of modifiers and you are not likely to get bored as there are tonnes of variety from CAS to Naval interdiction, to giant fur balls and even flying battle ships! Buy the game and play it! You will not regret it!
You get to mix it up as a Rebel or as an Imperial! there are dozens of scenerios and some of those you'll find coming from the earlier Xwing games, but updated. I enjoy the campaign here, as well as the fact that no one is Super strong. You are equally yoked to any other starfighter pilot in the game. And, this game still rocks.
This is, without a doubt, the best starfighter combat in all of Star Wars. It is also a pretty good space fighter combat sim. It has a good story, with an A plot, and a B plot. There is a sort of Build your own scenario creator within the game, for more fun. The controls require you to pay attention, but are not too troublesome. You begin as a small time shipper, before joining the Alliance. The story flows very well and the difficulty levels flow very well and there are some very memorable missions. If you enjoy any sort of flight game, or Star Wars, I urge you to pick this up! I actually pre-ordered this game back when it very first came out and I still enjoy it to this day.
