The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Decent game, if you can get it.

And by get it, I don't mean buy it, or have it in your library. Virtually everyone who has even typed GOG.com into their browser should have a copy of this game. I truly mean if you understand it. One of the best RPGs I've played. Your choices matter, your character grows, the characters are (mostly) true to their origins, except where they are stand-ins for other characters. Too many set pieces are ripped directly from the books, including conversations lifted word for word. It is a game that retcons the end of the books, then relives many of the moments in them again as our protagonist has amnesia. Apparently, the exceptionally important characters of Ciri and Yennifer were left out, when they were central to the plot of the books, this was later remedied in the Witcher 3. The combat is a weird mix of rhythm game and RPG, with timing your clicks to get stronger combos. It feels extremely hit or miss, though because the game arbitrarily decides that you were not in the proper window to click when you did, and finding the proper timings is a chore (the colored prompts don't line up). Ideally, this system would have more resembled the system present in Legend of Dragoon or Vagrant Story, or even Shadow Hearts. Overall, the game is a good get to play. I bought it MANY years ago and I loved it. But around chapter 3 it starts to drag so much that I've never finished it. I did make it to chapter 4 once or twice. It has potential, but it falls short. I paid $40 for this game. It is easily worth the $5, $0.99 or free that it is often offered for on here.

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ Game of the Year Edition

Great game, but gets a bit repetitive

This is a fantastic game if you like beat 'em ups. It plays very much like if the original Assassin's Creed was crossed with the Batman Arkham series, and has a nifty enemy captain ladder to sort through to top it all off. The game is a little long, and you can free play through the captains at your leisure, but the combat gets pretty repetitive, and after you've bonded so many captain and turned them against each other, it gets to be easy. Occasionally, a captain will spawn with strengths that leave him nearly impossible to kill, including immunity to executions, immunity to stealth, immunity to ranged, and caragor or graug rage (yes, I've had one spawn with ALL of the resists back in the early days of the game). This isn't a huge issue as you can usually set another captain up to kill him, or find some way to bond him. I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves the games mentioned here that it borrows from.

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

I owned this on PS4, then got it here!

This game is fantastic. It has some fast frenetic action against giant robot dinosaurs and animals. The late game gets fairly easy where only the strongest enemies can seem to even make you sweat. But the early and mid game are challenging and fun, with the story having a few reveals that aren't incredibly telegraphed among a ton that are so blatantly obvious. The game is good and fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed running through twice. I can't wait to play it on my new power PC.

Vampire's Fall: Origins

Wonderful turnbased RPG

This game looks pretty good and has a combat system that seems deeper at first look than it is. The PC version at this time lacks some of the features of the mobile counterpart, including PVP, Blood Moon events, Daily Brutals, and Dungeons. These things are what elevates the mobile game above the PC port (at this moment). But don't mistake me, this game is great fun, and has patched out the mobile free to play economy with everything purchasable in-game with gold instead of the black shards premium currency. The story is simplistic and a fun, semi-serious rewriting of the origin of Vampires and their powers/weaknesses. The combat quickly devolves into get to combo turn, eviscerate everything that isn't a Brutal and move on. Without the daily brutals to somewhat challenge you, there is not much point in playing past the second or 3rd rebirth. Still, worth a grab at the sale price with all the good going for it. Controller support is a little janky, they just assigned buttons to functions without much logic. I recommend KB/M.

Exiled Kingdoms

Beautiful Android Mobile game come to PC

This game is good. It's not going to blow your mind with super deep story or incredibly deep systems, but it is a good RPG. It is a mobile title at heart, and as such has those limitations, but in general it holds up as well as Eschalon or the Spiderweb titles. it has a decent leveling system where you unlock stats and skills, and if you like classic action RPGs, you will like the game. Well worth the cost of admission if you're looking for a fun game that isn't going to suck up hours and hours of your life.
