I am not quite sure how I feel about this experience. It feels like a walking simulator with some puzzles and enemies. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. I enjoyed the visuals, the pixel art and the strangeness the developers were going for. I thought the story was fine, though it was confusing at times, since the game went from reality to some strange dream place. That's the only way I can think to describe it. Being inside the main characters head as she sorted out everything happening to her. There were some gameplay elements that felt frustrating and out of place. Towards the end I really just wanted it to end. I finished it in about 6 hours, but the ending still seemed to go on longer then I wanted it to. All in all, this was fine, okay. I would wait for a sale, if you're interested in picking it up.
I wish I could review the actual game and gameplay, but I can't. This game crashes withing 1 minute of starting. I've read that it has something to do with not running on intel CPUs that are newer than 9th gen. And, of course, I am running a 12th gen. There is a supposed fix, but it seems to effect he computer on a whole, which I am unwilling to do. I am not messing with my computer for just one game. I would refund this game, but sadly I bought this some time ago and am only getting around to try and play it now. DO NOT BUY, unless you have a CPU that is 9th gen or older.
I'm not here to say if this game is good or bad. I am simply here to say that I am having so much fun. I am currently about 11 hours into the game and I feel like I have barely cracked the surface. It definitely gives off Oblivion/Skyrim vibes. If you enjoyed those game, then you will more than likely enjoy this one as well. Is this game perfect? No. But I haven't experienced any bugs, yet. I've been enjoying the combat. And I'd say this is an all around solid rpg. One major issue to be aware of is that 3rd person is not great. They even give you a pop up message that the game is not really designed for 3rd view, but hopefully this is something that gets improved with updates. And for anyone that is interested in the photo mode. That's not that great either. Again, hopefully that is also improved with updates. Despite those 2 issues, so far, I am having so much fun. In the end, that is all that truly matters to me. I can't wait to get back into that game world and explore.
Why do these horror games make walking through it so painfully and unnecessarily slow? I spent most of this game with my finger on the sprint button. This game is not great. It's fine, a bit of a slog to get through, but not great. The one thing I enjoyed most of this game is the visuals. I think that is probably the best compliment I can give this game. Don't get me wrong, this game has its amusing moments. They might not have meant to be amusing and funny, but they are cliches and tropes, so it's hard not to laugh or chuckle. Some people may find it scary, but this was not the case for me. You spend a lot of this game hunting for keys and then hunting for the door the key goes to. Or walking around trying to figure out what to do to trigger the game to continue on. Certainly not the worst game out there, just standard horror game fare.
