I bought the first two Baldur's Gate games when they were first released. I've played many Ultima Games, the first two Fallout games, both KotOR games, both Vampire games, Pillars of Eternity, and many other RPGs that sucked me in. This beats them all. From mechanics to characterization to rewarding ingenuity to sheer appearance, this has it all. Act 3 gets a bit glitchy and overwhelming, but feels appropriate for the bustle of a densely populated city in ways that most other games never really manage. Choices really MATTER in this game, and the variety is startling. I also love how LGBTQ+-positive this game wound up becoming. The whole thing is unbelievably satisfying. Thank you, Larian!
