No DRM and LAN unlocked!

Rome Total War is one of the best TW games in my opinion. This one is obviously about Rome. It is much less historically accurate than the new TW games like ROME II and Shogun II. However it is much more simple and playable at the same time. Rome is divided into 3 playable houses each painted with their own color, no need to read history books in a library enjoy it ;) Good: - Campaign is challanging but easy to understand (much lighter than Rome II) - Family tree simulation (one of the best in TW series) - Battles are great and bug-free - Music and atmoshpere is great - Vanilla version is sufficent but if you want more you can reach for mods Bad: - I can't find any downsides of the game. Perhaps only the fact it was unavailable for such a long time ;) The setting is what makes this game a true gem. Medieval II is also very good. However I feel that in medieval setting everyone used the same kind of units. Archers, spearmen and horsemen. In roman setting you have a lot of unique styles available for each culture. Legionaries, phalanx, berserkers, cataphracts, horse archers and many more

Homeworld Cataclysm as it was once called, now Homeworld Emergence has been preserved and we can own it on GOG. It is basically HW1 on steroids with nice new story taking part between HW1 and HW2

Weak port, no LAN

They remade HW1 on HW2 engine and it is not even close to original experience. Also something that I will never accept. They made classic versions available but stripped them of LAN connection option. Why do it? Were they afraid that people would rather play old ones instead of new ones? Cool, so now no one is playing neither old nor new and community is no more. Congratulations to new owners of the brand HW2 port is OK and playable

New graphics, no LAN

This once WAS a great game. Now it is destroyed by greed of new owners. - They removed "free" multiplayer (no LAN/TCPIP) - They bloated graphics - THEY MADE CLASSIC VERSION UNOBTAINABLE The community is no more, you can't play it on LAN with friends But you can still play singleplayer with new graphics You can still enjoy it and hope for the original to come back some day in "goodies" section

Old game kept alive by good devs

This game has a lot of flaws. However by the time I write this review new patch comes out every month. each one is a 10/10 improvement. If it continues that way we will have a very good game in about 6 months. Good: - Atmosphere: Dune + Wh40k - Gameplay: Simplified Civilization style - Quite nice diplomacy - Good stack combat system - Random galaxy maps (but not planet maps!) Bad: - Many quality of life features missing (currently being fixed) - Some balance issues Overall it is a good game with gereat atmosphere if you like Wh40K or Dune.

Good bus game + some history

This is a game about driving the bus where you enjoy looking at people getting into your vehicle and taking seats :). You can play it in two modes 1. Scenarios: Inspired by history. Actually very well done and realistic 2. Free career. Here you pick the bus you have unlocked and drive around the map Looking for routes to sign up for. You have to fuel up your vehicle by yourself and be a really good driver to make a profit. This game is not easy ;) Pros: 1. Decent vehicle physics 2. Nice set of both old and new vehicles, 3. Each vehicle feels different and has pros and cons of its own 4. Simulation like difficulty level, This is NOT an arcade game. 5. Ability to smoothly steer you vehicle with mouse or steering wheel (apart from keyboard steering) 6. Attention to detail, like getting a number plate when you sign up for a route 7. You can drive all the old buses on modern maps :) ... Cons: 1. ... but you can't drive a modern buses on the historical map :( 2. AI drivers don't pay much attention to traffic regulations. 3. FPS drops typical to Unity games near forests (no matter what rig you got) I played a few simulators like OMSI and I can say that this little game is worth a buy. Enjoy!

Worth for the atmoshpere alone

NOTE: ***for some people game crashes a lot, to make it run 100% stable just add -d3d11 parameter to the shortcut REVIEW: I'll go with STORY, WORLD and GAMEPLAY: STORY: It is a prequel to an absolutely great novel. A good prequel in my opinion. It is not as deep as Soma but touches the same topics and leaves you thinking after you finish the game. If you finish the game and liked it, you should definitely grab a book or an audiobook to see what happened next ;). Plus it is a great novel that had a huge positive impact on me as a human being. Don't be afraid of it, you won't regret it WORLD: Imagine the world where people got smarter, more educated, tougher and learned to respect each other 10 times more than we do today. Then they dropped all the nonsense of information era and just went to explore space using the 60' technology on steroids mastering the nuclear power and secrets of antimatter. Then you got Lem's world and after that you realise that this world is probably better than our current own one. GAMEPLAY: It is a walking simulator. Not too linear because there are a few ways to connect all the pieces togheter. There are also a couple of endings. I discovered 4 of them so far. So yes, it is an interactive novel to be true just like Soma without danger. A few minor bugs exist nothing game braking. You can also get lost in a difficult terrain a few times. Alien planet exploration is not easy after all ;) For me a solid interactive novel, if you like its atmosphere and theme buy and enjoy 5/5

Alpha Centauri had a baby with X-COM!

PROS: - Alpha Centauri style narrative and faction philosophy - X-COM style gameplay and theme - Espionage/political gameplay in early game - Space RTS gameplay in late game - Belivable and authentic world to begin with, so authentic that it earned some political-driven reviews - Gives player a lot of possibilities and strategies on every level of gameplay - At the same time it gives you guidenance and tutorials whenever you need them or get stuck - Balance works well and you can see that it received a good thought before the game was released CONS: - It consumes a lot of your time - Progress is very slow - Learning curve is pretty steep, first playthrough is a learning one (and it takes time) Recommended for fans of global politics and realistic space exploration!

Solid game, teaches you skills!

I just finished the game with no cheats and not using guides from the net. I have to say that it is possible without frustration and it is a lot of fun. But be warned, this one is a challange! It requires certain skills that require some learning, like finding your way around in a 3D space on a flat screen. Yes, I am talking about stealth missions, but not only PROS: - I did not encounter a single bug in the game - Different mission types: battle, stealth, solo - Every mission, even if it seems impossible from the first glance, has a way of beating it. Just give a few tries and you'll see how easy they could be - Pretty pleasant story - Graphics are really nice CONS: - Tutorial does not explain all the useful functions. Especially the ones needed to beat stealth missions. You can set up your own nav points with "N" button and that is a game changer. However you practically need to find it out yourself - Managing lots of ships reqires pausing in a late game. You are unable to sort them via group assignments so you need to scroll the list a lot And people remember "Aquamarine" is not as tough as it looks :D. Good luck!

If it works, don't touch it!

It is indeed a very strange update strategy when a product, owned by a user suddenly grows 6 times in size and is unable to function properly on ones hardware anymore. Why did you decide to go back and mess up the already polished jewel? You are the company that sells good old games, so you should not have anything against games getting old! The game is a best action RPG ever, but please make this next gen update optional! You are making your customers feel insecure
