No other game has ever grabbed me as strongly as this one in a narrative sense. Feeling like Johnny's a constant companion who becomes your friend, *that* scene in the intro chapter in the car. Everything about 2077 is so well done.
If you’ve been waiting since the old DOS game - Wing Commander: Privateer (the first one), for another game just like it, THIS is the game for you. Dust off that joystick or use a gamepad. Pure joy and nostalgia to play this! It has been such a long wait for a game of Privateer’s caliber. Forget all those other space sims with tons of menus and spreadsheets. This is an open universe game. Fly where you want, explore, make money, upgrade your ship so you can take on tougher missions. Repeat. Awesome.
I was reading through some forums about this game, because I really didn't enjoy the first game. People were complaining about really corny dialog and bad voice acting. I really enjoy B-movies, so as I continued to read these complaints, I became more and more interested. Then I found a particular response in this forum: "If Beast Master is your idea of epic cinema, then this is the game for you!" SOLD! Two Worlds II is like a romp through old B-Fantasy movies (think Sword & The Sorcerer, DeathStalker 2 & 4 [*not* 1 & 3...], The Barbarian Brothers, etc). When I first approached a particular city gate, a guard delivered a movie reference that made me burst out laughing. If you like can watch a movie for the sheer sake of enjoyment, without being a Statler and Waldorf style movie critic, then do yourself a favor and play this game.
For the people who couldn't stand the combat system: You just need to figure out how it works. It's based on timing. You click to swing only at the END of the current swing, otherwise you interrupt your combos... It's NOT a clickfest. Spend the 10 minutes to figure out the basics, and then over time you'll get to the point where you can take down an orc when you should be too low level to do so. Hint: It involves stepping backwards at the right time. This game is absolutely fantastic! It doesn't hold your hand. The monsters don't level with you. They are always the same, so while they may be way too tough (ie, you have to run like hell) in the beginning, after cautiously growing in power, you'll be able to take the tougher monsters on. Also, look for IronKeep Studios "Heights of Power" mod. It removes the grind from the game. When you've played the game through many times, this is a welcome addition, although it does make the best weapon in the game available far too early.
