I did play all ashes 2063 a few years ago and it was a great experience. It's more than a mod, it can be considered a standalone premium game but for free. There are a few things to consider to be 100% honest: 1) This game is completely and do not necessarily need the doom 2 game. The original release has Freedoom 2 that is completely free. I can imagine they do it in order to sell the doom 2. 2) This game runs on Linux too, I did play it there. You just need to have a little bit of knowledge. It's a pity they want to sell it with Doom 2 and windows only... That is not how it is meant to be.
I bought those games when they went out. They were outstanding. A lot of those reviews are silly and non sense. People here do not take in account how old are those games and how advanced they were back in the days. It was the 386 period. Architectures that had no GPU and CPU between 12Mhz and 40... they were basically overpriced calculators. So all the comments... it hasn't aged well... controls are awkward... it could have been better... 33 years had been passed and you weren't even here at the time. Better rinse your mouth before mentioning those masterpieces...
I know it's all about marketing but putting cynic women everywhere is truly boring, it's that kind of humor that only the average American misfit can get. I understood you want to sell games to every gender but you can't literally substitute every man with antisocial women with testosterone. Almost all the characters are basically men with the aspect of women, even the pirates. That kind cynicism isn't even funny. The secret of politically correct island...
This game is a pearl... It had an unfair amount of attacks from everywhere, underlining only its bugs and not the game itself. Most of the bad reviews come from the very beginning when it was, actually, buggy. The plot is very interesting, the sub quests are very deep and well done, graphics is amazing... People who put 1/2/3 stars never said anything about the game... I can understand their frustration but those reviews are completely pointless, from my point of view.
I like GOG... but the bad habit of resurrecting games from the paleolithic for prices like 7.59 pounds is absolutely ridiculous. People should simply not let those things happen. Games like this one today don't worth even 50 pence, they should be released for free or maximum 1p. I played this game 25 years ago and it was rubbish at that time too so nothing new... Yes... almost 8 pounds for a 25 years old piece of junk...
