Stargate: Timekeepers

Could be great with some tune up

The story feels interesting enough but characters are pretty boring and dialogue is way too simple and kind of feels like it was written to ten year old. There seems to be little lore and world building, and instead it's all about the current mission. You also can't say much about voice acting because there really isn't enough to work with due to the simplicity (mission narrator is pretty bad though, and probably has the most lines to read). I've now played a few missions and I'm also getting really frustrated with the gameplay. The mechanics are there but some things take too long, e.g. certain animations can't be cancelled to avoid being seen (like picking up a corpse) and clicking on a downed enemy to tie them up is a real pain when there are several of them (you just don't see where to click. Visually the game is ok but characters can often get a bit lost in the backgroud and I found myself loading saves constantly because I simply did not notice an enemy despite them standing out in the open. I'd also prefer to see enemy line of sight cones all the time because it really wouldn't take anything away from the experience - now you have to click each enemy to see their sightlines and when you have multiple enemies to follow at the same time you have to remember what these are. As for saving, there is not autosave during missions, not even on cutscenes. You'll probably find yourself hitting quicksave constantly after every action simply because you easily find yourself cursing all the little but super annoying shortcomings. At least I found myself constantly loading due to missclicks etc. I would have liked to see more story and deeper characters, and I think that a turn based approach might have served the game better. Overall it is ok but wIth a bit of polish and fine tuning, and some RPG elements thrown in there for story, it could have been very good.
