Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition

Excellent oddball turn based game.

I originally got this game on the Windows Store/Xbox and so I'm reviewing that edition. It's a light hearted turn based game with a good sense of humor and never takes itself too seriously. I find the way it very lightly plays around with Japanese mythology and history is interesting. The core mechanic is clever and compelling and the action, while not the deepest strategy game around, has enough meat to it to keep you busy. The graphics aren't mind blowing (it feels like this could have been made 10 years ago with flash) but the I don't find that particularly important since the art direction is top notch and the music is pretty good as well. And it's not exactly priced to break the bank either so it's highly recommended, especially on sale. Minor gripes are the UI is kind of bad and the control scheme is clearly designed for touch interfaces. Having played it on a Surface Pro a long time ago this was an issue there as it is here. It's a product of doing turn based but without a grid to speak of. It makes it original but frustrating at the same time.
