Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon (2003)

Why fix something that's not broken

For me adventure = point & click (or if you're hardcore write). Instead you get (unwillingly) 4 games in 1. First the Tomb Raider to spoil the fun and learn how to walk. Then the Wolfenstein (the one from 90's) to touch every wall to check if there is a "secret". Then comes Sokoban to move crates, vases all over the place. But most frustrating is the interface where you need to check which button to push to perform desired action - like a game where you learn to type fast on keyboard.... I've completed BS 1 & 2. This I quit after 30 minutes and never opened it again.

Port Royale

One of the best in a long while

This is an absolute gem. I don't remember anything that has kept me long in front of my computer. I'm a micromanagement fan (trade routes in colonization etc) so this is perfect. The only things that could be improved (because are easily abused and thus spoiling the game if you decide to do so): 1) range for different types of cannon ammo is the same - so you end up firing grape shots only, quickly reducing enemy crew and just boarding far superior opponent (this is sooo easy to pull through) 2) Anti piracy ops aka "pirate farming" - get 2-3 ships abuse point 1) and you gain constant supply of ships to sell (increasing your reputation) - this can be even improved when you have a hideout where you can repair them for free and sell them at even better price. Other than that great game

Warlords Battlecry 3

Do not buy this if you own Win7

I literally cannot say anything about the gameplay because the game crashes like hell. I try to run it with community recommended setting (Win7, compatibility Win XP sp3 and administrator), still the game would crash so often that I was not able to complete the first mission! The average time to crash is less than 2 minutes when in the mission. A COMPLETE DISASTER.

AquaNox 2: Revelation

not even close to Archimedean Dynasty

I actually wanted the game to end after some missions and was quite happy when it did. The biggest helper I found, that enabled me the game completion was when I discovered that you can end dialogue instantly by hitting "esc" key. And as the plot was dull and linear the whole "click on all possible dialogue options before next mission" became less irritating. As for the simulation the missions were fine but nothing special. The only really good thing I found is that it triggered me to replay Archimedean Dynasty which is AWESOME.
