The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Excellent in its Category

Excellent Dungeon Crawler / Rogue-Like [I have ~400hrs of playtime on Playstation, so I know what I'm talking about despite the low playtime while writing this review] The difficulty of the game scales gradually as you unlock more stuff, making it a great choice for players new to the genre while still being challenging for all players later on. The DLCs also help in making the game harder, so if you're new to the genre, it might be a good idea to not buy or disable the DLCs until you get a feel for the gameplay. Item Variety is vast enough to make each run feel different and the uniquely powerful/crazy item interactions that exist are rare enough to feel special without being too unlikely to hope for. The amount of items can feel overwhelming, but the game is no less fun if you don't know what you're picking up and most items are simple enough to understand as you find them. The art style has direction and a unique beauty with a lot to love about it. However, the grotesqueness will be off-putting to some, and you should stay away if you don't want satanic symbolism in your games.
