I love RPGs and this is one of my all time favourites. It is old, but still the graphics don't feel dated while you're playing. It's immersive and I particularly enjoyed how you can make it as fast or slow paced as you want - sometimes I want to quickly find out where the story is going, other times I just want to "be" in the world, and DAO allows you to do both. I'm a player who prioritizes characters, world building and story over game play and combat, and DAO really deliver on all three fronts. The supporting cast is diverse and well fleshed out and I honestly came to view some of them as friends, stupid as it sounds. There is a lot of lore to uncover and immerse yourself in as well if that is your thing. That being said, the gameplay and combat is good as well. The combat in particular took a while for me to get into as I haven't played any games with parties and a focus on strategy before, but I quickly got into it and came to love it. Figuring out what strategies to use against what enemies, what party members worked well together, etc, became one of me favourite parts of the game. Play it! Especially if you can cop it on sale, I got it for about 5 dolars and honestly in retrospect I would have spent full price on it. I spent about 50 hours on it, playing about two thirds of the side quests.
