Ion Fury

Has the potential to be a masterpiece

1. Graphics: + Atmospheric, good colors and contrast, excellent textures and vfx. - Revolver and Shotgun models are kind of generic. 2. Audio + Soundtrack is one of the best that I've heard in classic shooters, has stuck with me after finishing the game. - Weapon sounds feel like they could use a bit more oomph, right now it feels like they are just barely strong enough. 3. Story/Characters + Not much, the story is cliche villain attacks the city and the hero must defeat him. At least the lines are decent and well voice acted. - There's no plot twist, no character development and no support characters, for a game that is quite lengthy. I feel like Shelly should've had a friend that get's killed or sacrifices at some point, to raise the stakes. 4. Level Design + Various layouts and locations to keep things fresh, with plenty of secrets to encourage exploration. - Would've benefitted from having collectibles and a currency to buy upgrades for a change. Finding just health/ammo pickups gets boring. - SMG/Minigun need more ammo drops. - Some sections have too many enemy spawns, so they get tedious. 5. Combat + It's decent... - Low enemy variety, especially as it is a lengthy game. - Low gun variety. Missing rocket launcher, BFG-type gun, fun-type weapons(e.g. freeze/shrink ray, vodoo doll). - The existing weapons need more tuning/balancing (pistol alt is op, too many grenade weapons. shotgun and crossbow main attacks feel weak). - No upgrade system, which feels needed given the length of the game. - I find movement speed to be a little too fast to aim properly while running. I hope they overhaul the gameplay part in the future, as this game has the potential to become a classic.
