Dino Crisis

Works on Steam Deck

My first time playing this game, looks like the resident evil engine with the same controls and quirks. Trade zombies for dinosaurs. For steam deck I had to install with heroic launcher, then in the heroic launcher settings I went to the advanced tab, then I added a variable called WINEDLLOVERRIDES and set it to draw=n,b and it launches fine, even the cutscenes are working. I'm using the latest proton experimental.

Cyberpunk 2077

I loved this game

Maybe I have a lower bar than others for what's considered a good story. Maybe I had ideal hardware to play this game. Maybe I just did what everyone else should have done and waited around a year for the kinks to be worked out before I started playing, but I really enjoyed this game. The world and atmosphere are rich, though can sometimes feel empty (I think this was fixed since I played) where there wasn't much activity going on. The styles and vibrant colours were enjoyable. There's lots to do and explore, and I spent a lot of time just cruising around night city and chilling out in my various apartments. The combat, in my opinion, was really fun. There's a lot of styles you can play like, especially when you count in the skill tree. You can built your character out to be a sword swinging death machine, or pistol wielding gunslinger, a sniper, etc. They all have their advantages at different points of the game as you come across large open areas as well as tight quarters frequently throughout the game. The cyberware mods add a fun twist too, though the mods were lacking (although I wish there were more). I didn't even know I could improve my jumping until post-completion. The driving feels slightly clunky, I can't put my finger on why, it feels like you're always riding on rough off-road terrain, but it makes sense why when you're running over curbs and stuff, but for some reason it just doesn't feel fluid or right, at least compared to any driving sim. I played with a mouse and keyboard, but used an xbox series X controller for driving so I had the joystick range too. The story I thought was fun, exciting, and engaging. I really enjoyed the voice acting and plot. The music was top notch. I spent hours doing nothing but cruising around listening to different stations. I recommend this game to anyone that likes the style.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Game caught me off guard

I've been aware of the Witcher series existence for years but never bothered to play them. I started the Witcher 1 in 2019. It was a bit weird to get used to due to the controls but I really enjoyed the progression and lore. I then started the audio books. They were different, but again I like the lore and setting. After finding out the games don't need to be played in sequence I decided to jump straight into the Witcher 3 GOTY. I was blown away. The music, the atmosphere, the combat, the story... it's all amazing. There's a lot of depth in this game and the in-game GWENT card game gets you hooked after a bit too. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new RPG to play. I'm just working on the last expansion right now and have over 100 hours into the Witcher 3 as a whole. The expansions add a lot to the game, and there's no cheesy in game purchases or anything of that nature. It's a solid game.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Impressed

Never followed this series until a week ago, but I am a fan of games like diablo 1/2, the souls series, and fable 1. A lot of this game reminds me of fable but it stands out on its own. The story teling is well done, there are a lot of subtle details that really draw you into the world. Here we are in 2020 and I am hooked on a game from 2007. I am only in the middle of chapter 2 but I can't wait to continue on with the rest of this, then on to witcher 2 and 3! If I had to give advise to other first timers, I would say read the guide that comes with your purchase of this game. It is incredibly detailed and hasn't left a mechanic of the game unanswered. When I first started there was definitely some confusion for me but the guides clear them up.
