Darksidres Genesis is a good game, with everything that i love from previous Darksiders games. The story is simple but good. The world is fascinating and offer great exlporation, with a tons of secrets and ambiental puzzles to solve, like the previous Darksiders games. Combat is fun and switching with 2 different knights of the apocalypse, War and Strife, is good and feel like two different game in style (i hope that someday we can have a Darksiders with all the 4 knights). The progression and the RPG elements are compelling and we can create different build thanks to the creature cores system. The only big problem is the controls. In this game we have a top down view instead of a classic third person view, but if you use mouse and keyboard the experience is "ok" but not very good, expecially with jumps. There are too many controls and sometimes simple action require too many buttons to click. The game suggest you to use a gamepad, but i think that, in a game where one of the main character use pistols as a weapon, using a mouse is better that using a gamepad (i have a gamepad, but i prefer mouse and keyboard in this game despite the game advise you to use the first). If a game allows you to use mouse and keyboard, i think that we can make a criticism if that kind of controls doesn't work well. Fortunately that doesn't make the game unplayable, but is annoying. Despite this problem the game is a great game and the only technical problem that i encounter is that sometime, when i start the game with GOG Galaxy, i have a warning that tell me "the game failed to star" (yeah star not start) and the game start, but with some noteble input-lag, so i need to restart the game. Score: 8/10
This dlc presents a good story, but i don't like some gameplay choice that developer take. Some boss-fight are artificially harder, an we have boss with massive HP, sboss abilities that can one-shot you and some boss abilities that can restore their HP. In this way i can't use efficienlty my build and i was forced to use always Queen and Aard signs, because the other signs are useless during the primary quest. I was at level 36 when i start this dlc and i finish the main quest and some secondary quest at level 38, but despite the suggested level for the main quest was 34-36, i feel much weaker during my playthrough. In some part story is good, but in other part is boring and an excuse for extends the duration of the primary quest. In someway CDProjekt try to experiments something new, but the result is not always good. The base gameplay has not changed. There are some new weapons, armors and new locations but nothing that is a "game changer". Overall is solid but it could be better. Vote: 7/10
The Witcher 3 is a big step forward from The Witcher 2 and that are the reasons: - Finally we have a true open world and we are free to explore the world as we want, and there are good reason for explore this beautifull world. - The Witcher 3 also improve all the RPG elements and now we have more satisfaction when we build Geralt with different styles, whether we focus on combat abilities, signs or alchemy. - Now you have a reason for crafting and looting your gear. Great improvement. - Quests design is good, every primary or secondary quests are interesting and now also contracts are fun. - The combat system is way better than The Witcher 2, is more fluid, more fullfilling and less clunky than before. - Story and characters are better. Is more personal for Geralt and more exciting to play. After 3 games you are familiar with this characters and the world where they live and you care about their fate. The Witcher 3 is a really good game, but in my opinion there are some flaws: - The story is good but maybe is a little too long. This is evident expecially during the final part of the main quest, when i had the feeling that the story was a bit lengthened. - The quest design is good, but in every quest you have to use your witcher senses and this is very repetitive. - Moral choices are not easily understandable. You think that your choices are good, but for some reason some are not that good and at the end of the game you get the bad ending (that i get in my first playthrough). All your friends also disappear and you end the game alone, with a really rushed ending (dispite all the rest of the story is really long). Why? - Dispite RPG elements are better than The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3 is a "light" RPG. You are forced to act and play like a Witcher and you don't have the option to act in another way. Your build is a build of "Geralt the Witcher" not a personal build. Anyway, The Witcher 3 is overall a great game, strongly raccomended. Vote: 9/10
I was lucky to play this game on gamepass. This game is embarrassing. - The Story is bland and boring. - The A.I. is one of the worst ever made, expecially when you use stealth. - Skills and perks are one of the worst ever made in an RPG. Skills are copied from Fallout3/New vegas but are more bland and meaningless. Perks are useless and bland. No way to create a build or mixing Skills and Perks in a good way. This is not mediocre... this is only bad. - Stealth and comunications abilities are broken. You can easily stole everythings, use persuasion and don't have any consequence. Skill checks is not a challange, but only a number to reach for winning all the "challange". - Quests design is horrible and broken. When you play the first quest you can casually enter the power station and automatically fail one of the objective, even if you don't do what the objective ask to you (divert the current). No interest in any quests, because are boring. - Choice doesn't impact the game and in some case you are forced to make only one choice to complete the quest, even if you don't want to follow that path. Often they give you only two alternative to complete a quest. - Too many loot! What happend when the game fills you with loot? The loot became useless and you mechanically get items that never use during the game. Also every item lack in variety. - Combat is boring. A generic shooter with stupid enemies with lack of variety. Melee combat is also worst than shooting. - The world is small, unispired and there is a lack of "life". Everything feel empty, but the game occasionally drop some frames. Not a good optimization at all. - Graphic is acceptable, but is the least of the problems in this game. Avoid this game if you like a truly rpg experience. There is nothing of that in this game and all the good reviews come from people that are angry for Fallout 76 and Bethesda, and for this reason they have to "force good reasons" to like this game. Don't trust this reviews.
The Witcher 2 is a game that have ups and downs. The story is great, despite being a bit confusing due to the over presence of "fantasy name" that you don't recognize immediately. The story is divided in 3 acts (+ epilogue), but i don't like at all the first act, the best act is the second and the third act is very short. Is possible to make decisions that change the story and this is very good. The characters are great and i really like them. There are some secondary quest, but the quality is not always at the best. Some secondary quest are really great, other quest like the hunt contracts are very boring and often force you to use the traps that i don't want to use (magic signs are more fun). Overall the game is lacking the sense of freedom and the world is limited with predefined paths that you have to follow. Another example is the use of stealth where you are forced by the game to use it and you can't use it when you want. Is funny that the first Gothic doesn't have that kind of limitations. At first i don't like the combat system, but when you get more powerfull swords (the only type of weapons that deserve to be used), armor and signs the experience improves (but i hate QTE). The worst problem of the game is the use of potions. You have to meditate to create potions, but you can't do this in combat, so you have to speculate when a potion will be usefull and the consequence is that you waste a lot of potion or you don't use it at all when you need it. I hate this system so much. The inventory and the quest journal is ok, but a little unwieldy and also the game lack a shared management of all this things. For example if you are in the quest journal and want to see the map you can't do it, but you have to close the quest journal and open the map. Is like quest journal, map and inventory are 3 different menù not linked at all. The game is fun, but some things could have been done better. I hope The witcher 3 is better. Rating: 7.8/10
