Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon®

I have never played it until last week..

I want to point out, gog doesn't offer the expansions, so I also bought the Steam version to take advantage of the Heroes Unleashed mod. That's the only way I got the mod running. This review is with the above mentioned mod installed. I don't go into mod details though. Campaign stuff and vanilla features. The biggest draw for me is once you're dropped into enemy terr, you decide what to do next. You're on your own. No TOC, no nothing. You're the Ghosts. With enough restarts, you'll get the job done. They don't make games this good. The tactical options are immense. The maps in the campaign are big enough to give you that "you're on your own" feel. The game is only missing one major factor. Enemy retaliation once you're discovered. You get a few bad guys that spawn in ahead of you after you save the pow or whatever, but nothing major. I wanna feel like that one Bruce Willis film when they were losing squaddies trying to save the Congo's rightful heir. I love how you can control your squad mates, but they should of added more command options like "move fast but don't fire upon contacts". I hate that I can't tell them... Doesn't bother me much, until they get killed because I wanted them to sprint and the squad AI automatically shoots everything they see in "at all costs" mode. This game is a masterpiece, I'll be back with more positives.
