The game is fun, it's complex, has lots of variety, and is mostly a pleasant experience. On the other hand it's annoyingly difficult to install and update mods. Not sure if that is because of the launcher used, but it seems all quite complicated without good reason. Another negative is the absurd pricing of this game and its DLCs. It only gets worse the longer the game is out and more DLCs are released. Some say the DLCs are not mandatory and for some that holds true, but on the other hand the stuff that is available without a given DLC might available in principal but probably gimped - because the DLC is obviously adding stuff that makes sense. For example, I tried the Children of the Void civic, it's all about habitats. Sucks that I need one of the newer DLCs to select the appropriate origin. I guess balancing for that many DLCs and each possible permutation is impossible and forgone in advance. I wouldn't buy the game again, I don't like to support such buisness models.
Started 3 characters on normal difficulty, all die in their first fight without a hint of a chance, even with consumables. Seems to me you need to either copy&paste a min-max build from somewhere and then learn every game mechanic before you even start or, well, you don't get anywhere. In my point of view this is not difficulty, this is bad design. Let me get involved with a game before I need to know its mechanic.
