Help Will Come Tomorrow

It tries hard but...

Brief summary: 1. Mechanics are really weird (to avoid saying bad). There's another review saying that the reactions don't make sense. It's true. 2. Use a lot of Russian history jargon. It's not bad by itself, but without previous knowledge, makes the history difficult to understand and decisions to not make sense. I used a memory editor to see if the game would be more fun if I didn't have to focus on resources and no, it was still bad. All that said, I can imagine some people enjoying it a bit. Two stars is fair.

Synergy

Great game

The game is great. But so are many others. There's really nothing particularly innovative or that would make it a masterpiece. But that may be me, because I've played so many of them. That said, if you are looking for a new strategy simulator, this one won't disappoint.

Black Book

MIx of plot and card game done well

I just finished playing Black Book and it didn't disappoint, which is something these days. I have been looking for games that mix plot with gameplay but don't take too much time and this one fits the description very well. I didn't give it five stars because of some features (like the skill tree, trading, etc) could be better developed and more relevant to the gameplay but a small thing. Just for completeness, it's not a deep game that you should put all focus on. It's more like a casual game with good story telling, best played to chill out. That said, I recommend it.

Great game but clumsy controls

The title says it all. Could have been five stars if the control was a better.

Lots of potential but silly jokes break:

The game looked amazing at first but it soon degrades into a lot of the same stuff. While this is a personal opinion, I don't like the silly jokes on the books nor some of the conversations with NPCs. There are some political agenda in the game (I'm not say what) and for me this is big downer; there are better ways to do it. But again, this is particular to me. There are many people who say this game is a 5-star. It had the potential to be superior to Stardew Valley but scope creeping and some political decisions made me drop it after the 14th game day. But check it, you might like it.

Rogue Legacy

Has everything to be good but...

I don't know but I can't seem to like it. In teory, it should be a great game. For me, the grinding is just too boring. There aren't many flaws in the game if any so if you like the genre, it may be great.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition

Starts good but goes down fast...

There are already a great deal of reviews here and most are accurate. The game starts very good and seems very promising but goes down fast. Plot starts epic and but ends irrelevant. Mechanics are playable but have many flaws. Bottom line, if you never played it don't bother. Go directly to the sequel.

Diluvian Winds

Cute but shallow:

I purchased the game yesterday because the premise looked good. However, there's barely any plot and the gameplay is so shallow it looks like a casual game. In summary, each day you have four periods and in each period you have to manage something: allocate your resources, select the food, feed the fire. Rinse and repeat. Exceptions happen but are so shallow that is not worth mentioning. The story itself is also very shallow. The graphics are cute, though. Maybe the developers will keep adding content to it so that in the future it may be worth it. As of 06/21/2024, it will entertain you for, at most, two hours and that's it. Not worth the price. Didn't try the sandbox mode, though, as I cared more about the "apocalyptic" part of the story which is almost null. Developers: you probably focused more on putting the graphics together than in the mechanics itself. There's still potential for it to be a good game if you revamp the mechanics. Maybe I will try the game again in a year or so.

Cyberpunk 2077

It's an okay game. No more, no less.

I purchased the game on the pre-released but as I read the reviews I decided to put it on hold indefinitely. Last week I decided to install it and play it having no expectations. (V2.1x) So, after 7 hours of playtime I can say that it's an interesting game but really fails to deliver. I'm on my 40s and I played games like Bloodnet, Deus EX, Uplink, GTA, Thief, Batman: Arkham, etc. and I felt that Cyberpunk had elements of all these games into it but they were shallow/underdeveloped and failed to integrate well. Most of the reviews here that give it 2-3 stars and are from late 2023 - early 2024 are sober enough to be trusted: - Big open world map but very few things are can be interacted with; very little freedom. - The combat is mostly FPS and really weak; has stealth elements but is almost meaningless; - Cyberpunk stuff is limited to equipment and the hacking system is a joke; - Main character, like most NPCs, is shallow and unimpressive (there are a couple good ones); - Car driving looks similar but is far, far worse than in GTA; - Game crashes once or twice a day; There's one thing that is notably good: the world itself is rich. I believe that if CDPR releases a Cyberpunk sequel fixing its shortcomings (someone mentioned scope creeping in the reviews and I strongly agree that it may have been the biggest mistake in the development), it's going to be really good. They just have to revamp the mechanics. For those who purchased the game, the best way to enjoy this game, in my opinion, is to follow the main plot. The open world part (with sidequests) is weak but the main plotline is good. Stick to it and it can be an enjoyable experience.

Song of Farca

Good game besides political agenda...

It's a good game. Not great, but definitely good. The game plot is good; the mechanics, however, get repetitive in a while. Have different pahts to follow but didn't had the chance to replay to test other choices. One downside is that you can't manually save to test the outcomes, once it happens you need to move forward. For those like me without a lot of free time, it's kind of a downer. However, the reason I stopped playing the game was because of the gender forced agenda. Stuff like pronoums that are there but have no impact in the game. I'm old school and I don't like to mix politics in games and stopped playing a lot of games because of that. For that, I deducted one star. Else would have been three.
