It's Hexen, but not so annoying. You still get lost a bit but it's fun finding your way. There's a simplified exploration mode if you want something less like Hexen, and it also has an expansion which ditches the hub world backing tracking style of Hexen and gives you a Heretic experience. It's made for one kind of person and lucky for me, I am exactly that kind of person. If you don't know what Hexen and Heretic are then too bad, I'm not explaining anymore.

It's a bit rough but I still find it enjoyable. Pro Tip: In map 5 there is a chain that you can't interact with when normally you can open doors by pulling them. Maybe it's a puzzle or maybe it's a bug, but if you use an open door spell you can open the door and continue. I'm not convinced it's a puzzle and actually a bug. Level design is fairly interesting, as you level up you gain a secondary attack at random, it's got a lot of good points. The claymation enemies look horrendous imo, but that's part of the fun.

Sure it only cost me a couple of bucks so it's no big deal, but it doesn't offer the option to load saves. According to the gog forum I can push F7 to load games but that doesn't work. Now to claim a refund for my $1.79 or just let them sell me broken junk. It shouldn't be my loss, I own the pc original too, so they already got my money years ago.

I used to own heroes quest as a kid but always had to control the monsters because my friends didn't know the rules, and this game is giving me a good time. It's not amazing but for 90% off, it's a great deal. I'm fine with the randomness of the difficulty, and as you play you will be rewarded with more characters of the same class, so don't obsess over injuries. The loot is interesting, the economy is still well balanced 10 hours in and it has a very different approach to WQ1. I prefer some things about WQ1 but like that both games have fairly significant differences. I still think Space Hulk Tactics is the best GW pc game I've tried. I can’t pick a favourite between WQ 1 and WQ2.
