The Witcher series gets exponential better from the first to the second to the third, and don't get me wrong, this game is amazing, but play Witcher 2 game first, then Witcher 3, and then come play this one as you start your replay of this series. This game is a diamond in the rough, dense with lore and branching narratives, the combat is frustrating but will (eventually) grow on you. Plus you can import your choices from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 to Witcher 3!
Witcher 3 is an itimidating masterpiece, but this game is far easier to get into. Monumental replay value, as the second chapter can be in a completely different location depending on your choices. Plus, you can import your choices from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 and on to Witcher 3!
You can import your character and (most) equipment from this excellent game to Baldur's Gate II, which is even better. Currently replaying BG1, next will be Siege of Dragonspear (haven't tried it yet), then Baldur's Gate II Shadows of Amn and its Throne of Bhaal expansion. Hundreds of hours of superb content, not to be missed.
