Planet Nomads

Came around

Reading through the other comments I think this game had a difficult history but came around nicely. There are a few rough edges left and it's somewhat on the short side but that can still change. Most of the time playing this game is actually spent doing something like exploring and gathering resources and not just waiting. In fact, you can cut short long waiting times by sleeping (in game). Vehicles work great for traveling long distances and from what I understand this was a really sore point in older versions. A point of improvement could be water-travel, either by boat or submarine, as of now there are only land- and air-based vehicles possible with air travel being by far the fasted and most efficient way. Building and constructing is fine and you can put up small houses and large bases alike. Production and most resource gathering can be automated and construction materials can even be sent wirelessly, which seems to not have been possible in earlier version. So, most of the negative critics are no longer valid aside from the game story being somewhat too short. One sore point shouldn't be left out: Some of the in-game texts really need proofreading. Not only because of spelling mistakes but also because specific descriptions are sometimes plainly wrong and some of the crew storylines clash with each other. Aside that, I've really enjoyed playing this game several times over with different settings and seed values for the planet. One advice for new players: Don't configure the planet to be too small or too flat and don't lower the waterline too much. My suggestion would be to choose ¾ of the maximum size and leave water and terrain level at standard, this works out pretty well. Yes, there will be high mountains maybe even in the desert or lava regions full of godillos and pumps won't work there, but that's ok. And even if you already know the game and what resources you'll need later on, it's still a lot of fun playing it - that's good game design!
