A Story About My Uncle

Great Little 1st-person Platformer

This is a game I bought years back, and I probably replay it about every 3 or 4 years or so. Fantastic little first person platformer with a good story that hooked me from the first play. It's simple, and probably won't make your Top Games Ever list, but definitely a worthwhile play if you're into peaceful first person platformers. You will definitely die and have to retry sections again and again (and again), but that's something I enjoy. It gives a real sense of satisfaction when you finally (finally!!) get past whatever segment you've been trying and failing for the last 10 minutes. I almost never felt like it's the game screwing me when I fail a jump, it's pretty much always a matter of knowing I just need to grapple a little sooner, jump a little later, cut that corner a little tighter. it's a game that can get you a little frustrated for a short period of time, but that makes the success so much sweeter. The frustration of failure is minimal because the checkpoints are rather frequent and therefore forgiving. Really my only qualm with the game is that I wish there was a way to skip story scenes. There's several points where there's about 5-15 minutes of just talking to other characters, and while it's all pretty interesting on your first play-through, it gets boring when you've already played it before and know the story. It's why I only play it every few years or so. There *are* secrets hidden throughout the levels, and it's pretty fun to go back through after beating the game to try to find them all, but that gets a little tedious when you have to wait through story moments in order to get back to platforming and exploring and trying to find them. Over-all though, definitely a great little game to pick up if you're a fan of first-person platformers or looking to try them out. It's straightforward, just challenging enough to give you a rush when you get past a difficult part, and the story is intriguing enough to hold your focus. Love this game.
