So it's been said a bunch in the reviews, but I just want to echo the chorus. They made this game modernly perfect. The game itself is a work of art (really - play it and see - don't use the cluebook and don't mod your characters; sparingly to both for best results) but they also made it work for the modern machine. The combat used to be obnoxiously fast and quest text would also appear at warp speed - made it very hard to follow the story. They fixed all that. The journal is here in all it's glory and really adds depth to the game. I am loving the work GoG did and I'm really excited to see they are currating abandonware so carefully.
