DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition

A product of love

The story carries this game so well. It has everything I hate, like written dialogue and a lot of back and forth) and yet I loved it, the story is unque and beautifull, but also real well written, there are some jokes, but they never feel out of place, they are understated and feel like Price (the main character) is just trying to relax himself, the pacing of the "cut-scenes" is brilliant, presentation is perfect humurous on the surface but so tense and dark when it matters. The part that undermines this game is the gameplay, I didn't expect this to be Spelunky, but it could be better, there is a lot of back and forth, don't get me wrong, it NEEDS to be there, because otherwise it would be just pressing right button to the finish line, but it is still back and forth and some of the levels are a bit weirdly constructed (which, to be fair, could be on purpose), and leads you to be a bit lost at times. I would recommend it for the story, it's short, cheap, but memorable and it feels like it was made with love.

Hollow Knight

Just Marvelous

I haven't finished the game by now, but I feel like I played enough (20h) to say with confidence that this is a masterpiece. I never played any Metroidvainia (unless you count Dark Souls), and I'm loving it. Visually the game is beautiful, sometimes games put design ahead of gameplay and you end up getting confused as to what is in front of you and what is in the background, in this game that doesn't happen, the characters are really cute and each one has their own personality and quirks in their dialog. There are a large amount of enemies and they never feel repetitive, Boss fights have just the right amount of annoying. And the map...just brilliant, every city feels different and everything in it, from the background to the enemies feels in the right place, This is a well done, challenging and, most importantly, fun experience. To me, that's what makes a good game, and this one "nails" every single one of those points and still manages to be beautiful and have an interesting story. Worth every cent.

Samorost 2

Beautifully Short

If you've finished the first one and the demo of this one, you are basically buying 5 extra minutes of gameplay. The Puzzles are good, not too easy, not too "out there", visually the game is very unique and charming. It costed me 1.59€ on a promotion so I can't really say they haven't earned every cent, specially if you want to thank them for Samorost 1. But seriously, unless you loved the first one, go play Machinarium instead, the puzzles are just as good and the game takes a lot longer to finish, the longevity of this game is revolting.

Tower of Guns

Pure Fun!

This game is like if a 90s shooter met the simplicity and fast "in and out" perks of mobile gaming. It's just a fun shooter, it's not perfect, the aim is a bit off and sometimes invisible walls show up for a few seconds for no reason, but it didn't 't really matter while I was playing which is a good sign, because I was having fun. The "story" deserves a mention, made me laugh. Visually, you can make your own judgement based on the images and videos online, but I think it looks great, definitely is unique.
