This was my first time playing System Shock 2 and it was amazing. It's insane how well its core mechanics have held up 25 years later. I love these older games that were made for keyboard and mouse first, it makes the exoerience really unique from anything that comes out now. I feel like I have so much control over my character and the world itself. My only complaint with this port is that there are no HUD scaling options, and in a game where you are constantly interacting with the HUD it can definitely become an issue. However, Nightdive has stated that they are already planning to fix that in a future patch, and I have no reason not to believe them given their great track record. Highly recommend.
Story isn't complex but that is for the better in my opinion. Especially after how bad the stories of the other games are. Exploration is much more engaging, combat scenarios are much more well designed than TNO, and maybe most importantly of all, THE BULLET SPONGES ARE GONE!!! This does not mean the combat scenarios are easy though, they just feel more fair than TNO's. This is a must play for anyone who's a fan of FPS games.
