Unlike other, more story driven Black Isle/Bioware titles, the Icewind Dale games focus mostly on the "hack, slash and level" part. Still, it is by no means bad or dumb game - the level of tactical complexity and the beautiful drawn locations far surpass what one would expect from say, a Diablo title. The story - an engaging one - is still there, it is just linear and has no personal connection to your characters. The game, in general, is a memorable experience that will leave you nostalgic about the beautiful frontier of the world of Faerun.
