As a Warhammer gaming fan, this game is one of my top 3 Warhammer strategy games, coming in just behind the original Dawn of War. Great strategy, heroes that you can level and equip, and managing your armies through experience and gear, all while trying to maintain your budget - great stuff all around. Graphics hold up well for a game this age. While the cutscenes before and after battles looke rough even for that era; the intro videos and the map are especially sharp. Highly recommend for Warhammer fans and tactical strategy gamers in general!
Between this and the Gold Box series, kept me happy from about 1987 to, oh.... now :) Couldn't believe what realism this game had back in the day: a functioning international economy that fluctuated with disease and gold strikes... towns that remembered your face after you robbed it of it's gold and booties... land and sea battles that changed based on terrain, prevailing winds, or ship type... growing prestige and notoriety that forced you to eventually retire because you just couldn't outdo yourself... all on a double sided floppy! Glad to see they brought one of the best games EVER back!!
