Great Time Killer

I play this in between doing work when I need to clear my mind. It's fun, challenging and you don't have to remember anything in terms of quests/story-line... just drop in, blast some monsters and come back later to do the same. Sort-of reminds me of Heretic, lots of fun!

Master of Orion: Collector's Edition

It's still MOO

I’m a big MOO2 fan, I still play it to this day. I was sceptical about this remake/sequel after reading the tons of negative reviews but after finally playing it, I was not disappointed at all. People loved MOO for various reasons. From a deep/complex strategic 4x experience, some might find this lacking in comparison to some of the other titles in the genre available out there. But in terms of atmosphere, this is still MOO! From the game flow to music to the artwork to the racial interactions and general feel, everything feels very loyal to the original. The first thing I did, was to scan the game for the familiar pieces, and everything was there: Custom race designs, leaders, spies, stellar converters, space amoebas, deep core waste dumps… they were all there, along with some really helpful (and fun) additions and some interesting tweaks to original concepts. The only thing I miss, is the way MOO2 gave you a “on the surface of the planet” view when managing colonies, which provided some needed variation from the galaxy view. My advice: if you are a MOO fan, get this one when it’s on special. If you are a die-hard fan of the genre, have a look around at some of the bigger titles that have come out recently.
