Croc Legend of the Gobbos

Broken Underwater Levels

I just got to world 3, and I cannot recommend this game anymore. All the joy is gone. Replaced by underwater levels that have broken controls and unfair obstacles. If you get hit while swimming, all the controls lock up. You have to let go of everything for a second or two before you can move Croc again. Otherwise he just spins in place. Some rooms have enemies that can snipe you with projectiles from across the room. Croc swims too slowly to dodge them, and you only have a melee attack. You have to gormlessly swim up to them, hoping you can manage to pick up enough crystals to survive and get over there for a kill. Some rooms have electric barriers. These are awful. There's no warning before they turn on. There's no warning before they turn off. And the window of time you have to get through them while they're off is so short that it demands perfect timing. It's ridiculous. And these problems stack. You try to swim through an electric barrier, it turns on and hits you, it knocks you back but not far enough to be clear of it. So now you're desperately fighting the controls to get Croc to move before the invulnerability frames wear out and you get killed by the barrier. I can't even reach the first boss of world 3 because the stage before it requires swimming through so many electric barriers. I went from 20 lives to game over on these things. Even if this is faithful to the original release, it needs to be patched. Remasters are about smoothing out the rough edges, and these edges are very rough.
