I haven't yet completed a full play-through at the time of writing, but I'm having a blast in Moon Mystery. For an indie game by a small team, I'm especially impressed. The visuals are great, I'm enjoying the unique puzzles and the general combat gameplay, the upgrade tree for both skills and equipment is straight forward and the general atmosphere is pretty cool. Although not official on GoG, the game runs perfectly fine on Linux as well, using Lutris with no additional configuration tweaks. Literally just ran a standard Lutris install for it after linking with my GoG account, and it ran flawlessly without any changes since then. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, and looking forward to what Cosmoscouts might produce in future.
I disagree with Spoony on this one. I think the gameplay is absolutely spot on. Maybe I'm biased because this was the first open sand box style game I'd ever played, but I've since tried others from that era and before, and this one stands high. It is nothing short of awesome. The only mild complaint I might have is that late into the game the missions may be a bit repetitive, however it takes a long time to get to that point because there are so many. I think this game is well designed, and has the right mix of good game play and video cut scenes. The video portions are well acted and drive an interesting story line which of course you can choose to follow or completely ignore without consequence. I still own the original dos CD's AND the later Windows 95 version CD's, with the printed manuals. I now also own the GOG version. THAT'S how cool this game is. I could go on and on, but at this price, the game definitely worth owning and playing.
I've bought this game 3 times over now. I still have the original box and floppy disks, bought it again as some Sid Meier's CD ROM pack and now again on GOG. And it's worth it, every single time. It's one of my favourite strategy games of all time, because you have to manage politics, military, economics and exploration. Even with the dated graphics, it's extremely immersive and the music really adds to the atmosphere. Another Sid Meier great.
