Little bugs here and there. I have yet to encounter big bugs like the ones in the media. But they are annoying when they do occur. For example I got in an elivator, pressed escape to brign up menu and save game. Then I went to press the button on the elivator of first mission with ice bath tub to continue mission and it would not work. I had to go eat after so I didn't restart. Overall the game is fantastic. A bit tricky to get used to driving controls. It's not GTA...sadly, the handling is supreme in GTA. And it's no COD either when it comes to the FPS aspect. But what it does right is everything else. The way the world feels is even superior to Star Citizen. The cyberpunk feel is a blend of borderlands with crackdown and star citizen...and it plays like skyrim with the quests and random items in the world. I like it. The special effects are great as well. Lots of neon and lensflare. Performance wise it could be better. But does not look bad at all. Still looks very nice and detailed on medium with some tweaks. On high it looks about the same but I lose a few FPS so I just went with medium as I can't really tell the difference. I am getting about 40 FPS on medium with a GTX 1070 FTW and light OC, on what is now a lower end Ryzen 1700 OCd to just 3.8 GHZ for the sake of stability.
This game was absolutely amazing on release, there was nothing quite like it to compare it to. I always wanted to play this game more when I was a kid but my PC was too slow at the time to run it. Well I have it now and barely touch it. Lack of time. I suppose this is one of those games that I simply bought to have for the memory lane when I find time to play and so I can run it on my potato PC that is now considered HIGH END compared to what I was originally running this game on back in the day. lol
Awesome game. Plays like a modern game. My expectations were lower when I first tried this game last year or so. Then I noticed it carried the same high quality as the more modern Witcher 3 version. That was pleasant to see and I was glad to give it an opportunity to try it. So far I suppose I like all the 3 games in the series. I started Witcher 3 (Newest one) and then worked my way backwards to support the developer across PS4 and PC environments.
Runs on potato PC which is why I bought this game. That way when I go on a trip and bring my terrible laptop I can still play. I suppose I like how I can go on a nostalgia trip while going on a physical trip as well, haha. I grew up on quake and early games of the 90s. This one happened to be one of the better ones of the time. It was one of the few games that showed huge potential of 3D games. It is still a very fast paced game, and I love it.
I love the gameplay. I am generally not a big fan of old games. This one is a rare exception. The game back in 2001 was revolutionary due to the amount of characters it can have on screen at once which was much more than AOE at the time and character management was and still is great. Surprisingly graphics are still great by todays standards and the best part is they run on a potato PC. I was an 11 year old kid when I first got my grubby little hands on this game and could not put it down. I am 28 now and nostalgia aside I am very happy on how well the game aged and still plays with great satisfaction today. It rivals newer strategy games despite being about 17 years old and offering similar fun levels as compared to newer games of this style. I find that a bit shocking myself. That is something most games can not achieve.
If you have played "The Long Dark", You will love Firewatch. The game textures and art is similar. However Firewatch is more detailed, more organic. Firewatch stirs emotional adventures and excitement. It does so with the narative and great music and art choice. Story wise this game has a very unique and natural story, it is very relatable to the human mind and soul. I would really love to see more from the developer. A longer story. Similar art style. Same great views. I do not care if they use the same map, I just want a longer story with the same game formula. It is addictive and fun and much too short. The endings could carry more impact. A hollywood ending would have not been bad. Thou regardless of sad or happy ending. Choosing one with a deep impact would have made this game more notable. Unfortunately like all good things, they eventually end. And this game ends much too soon. But I loved it.
