Cyberpunk 2077

Looking for an RPG? This is not it

Whoa boy. Lotta to say here. Bugs apart (seeing as they are being fixed as we speak and you have seen materials on them already), game fails as an RPG completely and utterly. It has the same issues with roleplaying as Witcher 3 had - meaning you did not really had a choice in any miningful way on how you build your character. It kinda worked in Witcher as the character of Geralt was well defined and choices offered matched his moods of brooding, chilled or angry, but herethis fails with a new character you wish to embody choices you would make. Game is closer to blend of immersive sim like Dishonored and GTA style sandbox. It's not terrible, but it is not an RPG it is advertised as. Most of activities or gameplay approaches shown in promotional materials are taken out of cutscenes, or not present in the game at all. Story is serviceable, nothing special here, buddy cop movie from the 80's wrapped in cyberpunk aesthetics. Johnny steals the show here - this loveable asshole steals the show whenever he reats his head. Presentation, graphics, the "feel" or ambiance of the places you visit - top notch, once you get it to run. Music is great as well. Once main story and all additional bigger jobs are finished, very little left to do. Story finale does not encourage to further play at all. Was this game enjoyable tho? hell yes, one of the best i have played this year. Should use some balancing - i do not mind being OP, but AI of enemies needs fixing -waay dumber than in Skyrim. This game cloud use at least 6 months of development more. All in all it is a good, but hella dissapointing game, that does not deliver on what it has prommised, however what it delivers is still enjoyable. VtM:Vloodlines comes to mind as a comarison - broken at launch, getting the studio into trouble, broken, but loveable. All in all, Bloodlines was more of an RPG than this.
