Disclaimer: I was the writer and a game programmer on this game (AI, scripting system, squad system, multiplayer modes). This is one of the most fun game development experiences I ever had in my entire career and I’m thrilled GOG is making it available to players once again! And it includes the Virtual Voyager expansion pack (with Jeri Ryan’s voice, the ability to walk around the ship freely and some fun new MP modes like the asymmetrical mode: Assimilation). I remember when we got this license and I was like “Star Trek is not a shooter license, it’s about story and characters” and I didn’t think it was going to work. I was a HUGE Star Trek fan, probably the biggest Trekkie at Raven Software. Because of that (and because I had come from film school), they let me write the script and create a whole cast of supporting characters for the Hazard Team. It was so great - like creating my own Star Trek series within a series. And Raven and Paramount were 100% on board with making sure it was character and story focused and not just an FPS. So happy to have been a part of this and I hope everyone still enjoys it (warts and all) 20 years later!
