I love this kind of gameplay. A tactical, strategic, mechanical and a semi-auto battle system where you spend 10min planning and 20min fighting over a larger campaign that can last for 80+ hours. I do not mind the pixel graphics but I will not pretend I am impressed by it. I do mind the learning curve. There is a lot to learn and there is no reliable source to get the information you need. The tutorial aspects are mediocre. You will need to spend about 10 hours’ worth of gameplay to figure things out. This makes the game intimidating and hard to enjoy from the start. If you enjoy this kind of game then I suggest you invest those 10hours, because it does get a lot better.
Story, graphics and sound are all good but the gameplay is tiresome. They have added several campaign management systems that are just a waste of time, card-games and the like. I'd rather see a return to vikings for next game, although the smaller (but more) maps of this game is better.
I like most of the game and its story but the humor feels excessive and takes away any other emotional substance this game could have had. I spent half the game with a companion robot named "Party Pal", shaped like a disco ball, a fun joke for 3 minutes but it followed me around for the rest of the game (10hours more). A more serious take on the next game please. (I enjoyed Wasteland 2)
