Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition

Fast-paced, super-addicting fun!

This is the kind of game that will keep you up until 6 AM, without any need for caffeine or any feeling of drowsiness. This is the kind of game that will have you screaming into your microphone and twitching spastically. This is the kind of game that will draw you in until you can see your breath on the screen. From the reaction-time reliant instagib, to the strategic run-n-gun of deathmatch, to the adrenaline rush of capturing the flag, to the more strategic and team-based Onslaught mode, this game has something to please all FPS fans. The weapons feel hefty and satisfying, your character moves like a cheetah on crack, and everything from the narrator to the gibs exploding on the floor create a pulse-pounding, visceral experience. If you somehow haven't experienced it, there is no better time to start then now.

Syberia

A Dreamy and Powerful Experience

This game has really stuck with me. It's been forever since I played through it, but I remember being really impressed by it: it was one of the first adventure games I ever played, and it really got me into the genre. I remember thinking about how Kate's character evolved over the course of the story, and it's truly impressive how fully realized her character is. The setting is fantastic - probably the strongest part of the game. The puzzles are standard, probably a little easy for most experienced adventure gamers, but they were at an excellent level for me. I never got too frustrated, and they were over quickly so I could continue with the plot. There was a real sense of satisfaction with discovering new locations, and I absolutely loved exploring this highly detailed, beautiful world.
