I was looking for something similar to Wing Commander Privateer (yes, I'm that old). The worlds, planets, bioms, aliens, galaxies, freighters, animals, pets, bases, starships, .... it is just amazing - so wonderfully detailed. It doesn't get boring to explore new worlds and find something new - even after completing the storyline - plus there are still major updates that extend every aspect of the game (oceans, ancient bones, ...) even 9 years after the initial release. And yes of course there are repetitive tasks/missions - but for me it is a way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the procedurally generated worlds. Plus there is always an Expedition to explore newly added game elements.
