Another fantastic game that, like Distraint, combines elements of human psychology and certain horror motifs, while toning down the fear very well so that the player is scared primarily by the atmosphere, not the jumpscares. Great, darkly stylized audio-visual setting, interesting camera mechanics and a well-written story. This game has very simple, uncomplicated mechanics and logical puzzles, but that's good. Oddities and excessive complexity are not recommended here, because the gameplay serves as a tool to push the narrative of the main character's story forward. If you like both Distraint games, you'll love Afterdream too!
I play it for the first time and it's really enjoyable! Great gameplay, dark humor and good mechanics - even the graphics has aged very well! Sometimes it's difficult, but definitely not too hard! I haven't played the very first DK, so you don't need to play it either. Just give a try this sequel and enjoy as much as i do! The one and only bad part - there are no polish version, so no sub and dub, but that you can fix with installing a polish version from the internet.
SIMULACRA is a good narrative horror with a good immersive story. You're really interesting in Anna's fate, you're looking into her mails or DM's and confronting with a few people which are close to her. Sometimes, however, the sh*t's go on, the screen gets glitchy and you experience a weird anomaly which is scary as hell in contrast to slower, silenced part of the game (searching for data). It's short, you accomplish in about 5 hours, but SIMULACRA has a few endings, so you might want to play again to set some of your decisions in different ways.
I've played for nearly 40 hours and I'm still in the second chapter - this modification is like a whole new Gothic addicting adventure. The world is climatic, dialogues are really good, the plot is immersive and lets you enjoy every quest and exploration. You play it and can't stop, because of a unique atmosphere and enjoyable gameplay. It's like a Gothic 2 with a new better mechanics like cooking and weapons-crafting, new potions to make etc. Polish dubbing is also on a very high level and music is just perfect and reminds me all the best tracks from Gothic 1, 2 or 3. If you haven't played yet and you're a big Gothic fan, you should give it a try and get back to a Gothic world with a new character and a new island to explore!
Beautiful music, excellent atmosphere and graphics, expressive side-characters, simple, but satisfying RPG mechanics (upgrade and combat), great arcade hacking system. One of the rarest games I love coming back to, even if I know it perfectly :) There's not so much running around the town since the city is small and divided on a few sectors, so you can't lost the road or don't know what to do. The fighting system is based on arcade - clicking on enemies to punch or kick them or aim one of a small amount of weapons. Character progress is also small, but contains everything you need - lock picking, hacking, fist-fighting, implants etc. The plot is simple, but with a bunch of plot twists, even if our main character isn't as well-written as it could be, so we can treat her like our own game avatar. There is a drama, a good sense of humor in dialogues, corporations, China Town, some secrets which give you some special skils and so on. To make a long story short: It's worth to play it!
