The Alters

Had a good time and plan to replay!

I just finished the game and had an absolute blast. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I'm not a fan of time limits. I fully understand why the mechanism was necessary, and in fairness, if it didn't exist I would still be in Act 1 endlessly mining resources. The time limit is there to stop players like me and to add weight to your choices. Once I figured things out I felt like the game gave me enough of a time buffer that I was able to enjoy things at my own pace. (gameplay spoilers: learning that you get the full 30 days regardless of when you leave an Act made a huge difference in my enjoyment of the game). The story was good, and I liked the Alters concept. It makes me want to replay so I can get the ones I missed in my first round. I liked that they were all different and I had to figure out how to talk to each of them. You really had to tailor your responses to the Alter you were talking to. I thought it was well executed and it really made me pay attention to their personalities and life paths. Pros: everything about the Alters, VERY forgiving base building and modifications (I love that you get the full resource refund when deleting modules), I enjoy micromanaging my crew, the song!, fun moments and interesting story, game looks great. Cons: time limits, never enough storage for a resource hoarder like me, after a while the anomalies become more of a tedious annoyance than a threat. One of the anomalies had a visual that was disorienting. I will add that my positive feelings are because I lucked into an ending I was happy with and I got everyone to like me. If you get annoyed by experiencing consequences in games, definitely look up spoilers lol. I wish they had ending slides telling us what our bros were up to but overall a good game.

Mail Time

Super cute but way shorter then expected

I enjoyed the game but if I had known how short it was I would have waited for a bigger sale. I finished it in 4 hours, and honestly, as cute as it is, I cant say it was worth $20.00 to me. The biggest draw of this game is the adorable art style. The world and all the characters are delightful. There was one frustrating bit, but for the most part I didnt have any issues with the controls or jumps. I missed a couple quests because of various bugs though, which is annoying. I know those will be fixed soon, but I already uninstalled since I cant imagine replaying the game. All in all, the game was fun and worth playing, but the world and exploration is way smaller than expected.

fun little game with a great art style

I got this game on another platform but seeing it here on GoG I wanted to leave a review because I really enjoyed it. I got this as part of a game pack a few years ago, so I wasn't expecting much. I thought it would be a simple little game to play while watching youtube videos, but once I actually started playing it caught my full attention. The art style is interesting and there are so many funny little things to find and click on. The little figures are all moving around and doing things so the world feels very alive. It very much reminds me of Finding Waldo where you get a glimpse of this little world.

A wild ride

Really enjoyed the game, but its was a LOT shorter than I was expecting, I would definitely have preferred a bigger map to explore, and more things to do, but I won't complain about that too much cuz a shorter game does make it easier to replay. And I definitely want to try it again with a different skill set. Apparently I missed out on a bunch of stuff because my Harry was dumb as a brick. I kept putting all my skill points into strength, which was fun in its own way, as I got to punch racists and doors and beating up a payphone after drunk dialing the ex-wife healed my health. My favorite moment was when a 12 year old roasted me SO HARD I lost -1 Morale, and then I accidentally talked my way into a corner so I was forced to try and shoot a corpse out of a tree with only a 28% chance of succeeding. I managed to fail every skill roll up until that point and was feeling like a real loser and this was going to be the last straw for me. I ended up making the shot and the glow of Kim giving me a high-five, and Cuno thinking I was cool, kept me going trough the rest of the game. Harry also burst into tears on like 5 separate occasions. My kind of man XD
