Piece of crap filled with bugs that the devs have ignored since alpha, and a half baked crusade feature that feels like a child ripped off might and magic. The only thing keeping this from a 1 star rating is the enjoyable writing and characters, but this in NO WAY makes up for the slap in the face that is this game.
I'll keep it short, the game is very fun and enjoyable. The gameplay is essentially an improvement on Kingmaker in every way on the adventuring side, and the writing and characters are excellent and very compelling. However, this game is riddled with bugs and half baked mechanics, namely the Crusade mode. What is particualrly frustrating is an incredible number of bugs were present during the games Alpha and Beta stages, including several game breaking bugs that can completely tank a playthrough, most glaringly one that does not allow some users, mainly the ones using a laptop, of the game crashing at 92%. It is frankly pathetic that a game this good, with so many testers, is in such a sorry state on launch. I pre-ordered this game with the Mythic edition, but this will be the last time I trust the word of Owlcat games.
I love this game, both the adventuring mode and kingdom management mode are really fun! The characters are well written and the story is excellent! I would love to sing praises about this game all day, but there are some problems. The timed quests can be a handful, but I never had problems completing a timed quest I knew was timed. The pacing of combat is a bit off in the later areas of the game, in particular the last dungeon of the game, throws swarms of enemies the likes of which are unheard of throughout the game. The game is excellent, if you play Pathfinder, D&D, or are a fan of CRPG's, this is the game for you!
This game is amazingly fun, with a beautiful world and rich storytelling. I wish I could recommend this game to everyone, because at it's core it's a good game. I can't recommend this game however, as it is a broken, buggy, unfinished, unplayable mess. Unknown to me I encountered a bug at about 20 hours of playtime that broke the game for me, and I did not notice the bug until I had passed 40 hours. The only answer CDPR support gave me was to verify my game integrity and reload a save beforehand. Reloadng the save not only caused the bug to happen again, but cost me 20+ hours of gametime. I really trusted CDPR after The Witcher, but I honestly just feel cheated and betrayed.
