All though I can understand why some might be turned off to Battle Chess, at it's core it's still just chess, but for me that is why I love this game! Growing up Chess was my father and I's favorite board game to play, it was thought provoking, and strategic. So of course a game like this will also be something in my collection. Back in my day, when Windows 3.1 was HOT, HOT,HOT and when having a strong knowledge of MS DOS Commands made your life much easier, I would visit a local retail shareware/software vendor for any new games I could afford! This is when I found Battle Chess. I realized quickly that it was a game that needed to be shared to many, so I did! My entire family to this day will bring up random things that happened on battle chess, like the wierd glitch we found one time where a rook was hoping up and down on top of a pawn's head, the funny movements and facial expressions that the peices used. It was by far one of my favorite games not only because it was great but because of the memories. Battle chess offered a new way to play a great game, and brought me much joy in my childhood. I'll always keep my original 5 and a quarter floppy version in its neatly presented fiber sleeve as well as buy this version to bring back the memories!
