Having beaten the game, all I can say is that it starts as a great Escape Velocity type game but by the midgame becomes bogged down by lack of freedom, and a story that feels incomplete, regardless of the two endings you choose. In particular, one of the endings doesn't even have an ending screen. It just sticks the player into an area with identical systems. So to summarize, get it if it's on sale for $5.00 or so, at the $10.00 (a generous 50% discount from GOG, kudos to them), I would not recommend it, and certainly not at full price.
This is easily one of the most fun and enjoyable games I've ever played. I've consistently come back to this game over the years, since it is a great little rougelike to play in short bursts. Honestly, I am surprised they never brought it to IOS and Android, since it would be great to play on a phone or tablet. 10/10 stars
The purpose of GOG is to provide games that are classics at a reasonable price and DRM free. Contrary to certain people on the forums, this is a wonderful addition to the catalog. GOG feel free to add more modern games to your library, and keep on providing us with the wonderful service and amazing games! The true successor to the Heroes of Might and Magic Series!
