A New Beginning: Final Cut

Nuclear energy = black spooky magic

It's Deadalic, so you get your solid point & click gameplay, polished 2d graphics and animation and apropriate sound design. But the writing is what makes a point & click game good or bad, and man it's bad. This must be a german thing, because for some reason they don't understand nuclear energy and regard it as some kind of evil black magic that's the root of all ecological problems on earth. No questions asked, no research made. Neither coal nor oil are the main culprit of co2 emissions, spooky rays that have been pretty much omnipresent since the big bang are and have to be stopped. It's infuriatingly misguided and plain stupid. Add on top a preachy yet naive main character, that walks like a stuck up duck across the screen, and you have an adventure game that simply annoys you from start to finish. Especially since the message it tries to deliver and preach about makes in this case no sense whatsoever. Oh, and apparently a puff of exhaust smoke is enough to isntantly kill a bird outdoors. Aparently that wasn't a big enough hint for our protagonist about the real problem. If you have no idea (or care) about climate, physics or any natural sciences, then you'll maybe enjoy this game. But if you have some casual knowledge about those topics, you'll be shouting at the screen in frustration, wondering what the writers were (or weren't) thinking about when they came up with this absolute failure in writing that wouldn't even pass a high school science class...
