Atlas Fallen: Reign Of Sand

Decent enough, but nothing special

Bought this on sale at the launch of Reign of Sand. Gameplay is decent enough action gameplay with parry and dodge mechanics. Parry timing is well telegraphed and there are options to increase the parry window for those who struggle to do it on time. There are a wide range of upgrade options to suit many playstyles but the variety of weapons is small and feels kinda samey. Mobility and traversal mechanics are ok, but it's quite difficult to distinguish between places you can get to and places you can't. I'm beginning to understand why "yellow paint" is so popular in these kinds of games as this is what you get when it's not there. The game has those annoying "find X" quests where you are given a circle radius in which "X" might be found, but there are not enough clues to help actually find the things. Instead X is usually placed in some random spot that's easy to miss. Story is your typical "fight tyranny" affair but it can get a bit on the nose at times as some of the things referred to as "tyranny" are actually perfectly reasonable things to want.
