This is THE pre-RTS era RTS with the whole world as your map. Marshal your economy to produce armies, surface fleets, and subs in World War 1. Field carrier fleets, aircraft, paratroopers, and tank armies against your enemy in World War 2. Throw diplomacy, nukes, oil scarcity, and satellites into the mix during World War 3 in the 1980's. After NATO and the Warsaw Pact square off, do it all over again in a near future World War 4 that establishes random blue versus red alignments for each new game. Or, play as general Mad Max or Planet of the Apes in a post apocalyptic world that has your side beginning with just one city and no knowledge of the whereabouts of the enemy's cities and forces. From the manual: "You are the commander, directing the armed forces of entire nations, deploying ground, sea, and air troops to bring about the accomplishment of your plans and the ultimate defeat of your enemy. In any war, in any era, on any side, the decisions that shape the course of history are made in the Command HQ." The game is from 1990, but features pausable and scalable real time, a mouse point and click interface, a world map zoomable to specific theaters, terrain features that affect battles and attrition, and a scalable AI that on lower difficulty will defend against your offensives and on higher difficulty will exploit your weak points and aggravate your strategy.
