First things first. I've played this on Xbox, not on PC. Imo first was fairly decend adventure/walking sim so I had quite high expectations for this one. But in short it sucked. There's quite a lot of backtracking to conceal small gameplay area. Story is only thing that semi-succeeded me (in the beginning hour or two) playing this through and part of me waited throughout when things really kick in, but it doesn't. Puzzles are ok at best. Luckily game is quite short to not waste much time for it. Very boring and anti-climatic experience. Absolute skip unless you're huge fan of walking sims. Oh and that survival aspect that is advertized is virtually non-existant feature at all and even the "scares" failed constantly.
Haven't played on PC, but on Xbox I had tons of fun. It's nothing spectacular, but fun and got good laughs from it, that doesn't happen often. Other reviews mention it falls short on end and maybe bit, but I enjoyed game through. Gunplay is fun and there's humor etc. It's a title I played on Gamepass by random and absolutely would've missed this. Luckily I didn't and iirc I finished it at least two times. I'd say for something like 5 to 8 euros this is a must buy.
I played few of the first Commando games way back. They didn't so-to-say click back then at all. Way too precise things were needed everywhere. Now like decades later this happened to be on Gamepass and decided to give it a try. Boy I was glad I did. One of the best games I've ever made. Really nice plot, good characters, dynamic missions, awesome maps, nice skillset with many characters and in some parts it really felt you have few options to proceed, which the original Commandos series lacked very badly and everything felt so scripted all the time. Now I'll be honest, there's quite a bit of that here too, but for some reason it didn't bother me virtually at all. If you "semi liked" Commandos, then this will be your game, hands down. I actually enjoyed this so much that I absolutely loved the midwest themed Desperados 3, which is also insanely good title on par with this imo. I really wish I would've bought this years back as fully priced title.
I've unfortunately wasted my time playing the full version through. I was very early on quite sceptic about "storyline" as it felt as really boring soap opera. But there happened to be couple characters which I thought could possibly create interesting stories. Well I wish I wouldn't have thought so as in the end it's all sloppily written soap opera. I wish I could have spent time back. Well luckily it was on Gamepass and played it for free. If one is expecting remarkable stories and twist. I can help you. There aren't any. Heck there isn't virtually even any gameplay.

I saw very positive review of this as kid and always wanted to play this. Now decades I later stumbled into it and played it through and so glad I did. Man. I wasn't expecting game to be this good, few points. First the setting and ambiance is just perfect when you start game at derelict space ship solving puzzles related into it and opening the general plot meantime. Second was that the puzzles are generally speaking very realistic and interesting especially at the start. You need to fix stuff, navigate alive through reactor compartments with geiger counter and figure out what is safe area to enter, do strategy space battle that's like different game and it's made optional if strategy isn't your thing. Third. If you like Star Trek it's bit like going through good episode or season maybe (Your captain is "Worf" btw). End parts plot goes quite wild with it's ideas. It wasn't 100% my cup of tea, just bit too abstract for me), but plot was still so well written that game kept me fully captivated through out. War, aliens and time travel are part of the plot, not just roaming around spaceship. Check out intro movie that shows the setting you're about to enter. Imo it's one of the best of this era, but it's also not too extensive on them. You'll watch occasional well acted video logs that have been left to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvm5EPUH_I8 If you liked intro, check out this old footage from the very begging which gets you the idea of ambiance and navigating around spaceship. It's safe at it goes through so fast and luckily skips one plot related FMV in one room. If this looks even remotely interesting. Buy the game immediately, seriously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1LExrbHLHk In the end I can't fathom why this game is so little known, maybe cause it just didn't happen to sell well? Been gaming since late 80's and I'd 100% put this game on my personal TOP 50 games ever for sure and it likely would fit TOP 20 ever above the Day of the Tentacle.
So I've just spent 48h in to the game and I'll be hitting the very end of the game within I think within 2h. Specs: i7-2500k, 16gigs, GTX 970, HDD&SSD installs (I'll get into this soon) Very short version: I bought game full priced and was incredibly satisfied. Game has been way better optimized and ran so much better than I've could've anticipated. Bad: So yes, there's still some glitches in the game. Occasionally some items seem to be below surfaces to reach them, this is the worst glitch. If you stumble into this try to look bit off to the objects, which can help. Luckily this situation isn't constant at all. Then occasionally some vehicles spawn very close to player in high speeds which is very annoying. Luckily I didn't experience wonky physics which have been seen online in various videos virtually at all. Some vehicle, especially motorcycles are though really lackluster to ride in game and their "dynamics" feel very slapped on which was bit annoying to motorcyclist like myself. Now the HDD/SSD part. I had game installed on fast Raid0 WD harddrives, but they still seemed to perform insufficiently and texture popping, vehicle spawning and minor stutter was very much noticeable. Note that there is "Slow HDD" option in game options, but I didn't test it, but transferred my install to SSD which resulted in much better experience. One annoying thing was that when looking items, I constantly had to look of and again item to get statistics shown. This really happened all the time. Small glitch but annoying as it's so frequent. Minimap is annoyingly small in driving and leaves fraction of second of time to get in intersections. Some side missions annoyingly don't have map markers at all (no filter or search in map). Good: City and its surroundings are gorgeous and there's definitely that "Bladerunner" feel in many parts which I hoped for. Storyline has been outstanding so far. Performance is overall was much better than I thought for such dated hardware. 9,5/10
If you liked original X-Com/UFO Defence, it's more than likely you'll enjoy this version. It lends pretty much everything from original, but throws few welcome changes in it. NOTE: The so-to-say "base game" get boring very quickly. It is a DEFINITE must to activate Community Edition, which throws bunch of new maps etc. into game, also fixing decent amount of bugs. Without it I would give 3 out of 5.
