I played this on PSP, design wise it is the best jRPG I have ever played, they nailed it by getting rid of all the annoyances of this genre, like for example you can avoid encounters. but best feature is when your party dies (and it will die) you are offered to repeat the battle right away and if you do the enemies are a bit weaker, if you die again enemies are even more weaker etc. You know what that means - NO GRINDING NECESSARY!
the game is too blocky and the 3d peds are too awkward, but most importantly they don't splash like the spritey peds of the original anymore. add timed missions to that and you have a very disappointing sequel to one of the greatest pc games of all time.
While the pc versions of these games are miles ahead of the ps1 versions, they are still obsolete - you get tank controls and when fighting you have to jump around like a flea on a hot frying pan. 3d action games have gone a very very long way since the release of these classic Tomb Raider games and today only nostalgics can enjoy them. I recommend Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time, if you want 3d action with fluid controls and fun 3d platforming.
i was shocked when i tried it - it had no atmosphere and the level design was mostly terrible with big empty locations and warehouses. but most importantly - the mechanists with their robots were absolutely out of place in thief universe. no wonder this game didn't sell and looking glass went down.
i guess this 'game' started all the QTE, on pc anyway. it's not a game really, and not a form of art either - it's a steaming pile of uninspired something that comes out of you know where behehe
I tried this game for the first time in 2010 on my oldskool pc and was disappointed - i can see how it was a bomb in 1996 but it's been obsolete like since 1998. If you want to play great arcade racing games, pick FlatOut 2 or Dirt 2.
