TLDR get it on sale I didn't like the Witcher series, but I had high hopes for this one. And it's okayish, it could have been a lot better. Please disregard all the whinny snowflakes who gave it a bad review right as the game came out, how can you be objective when you don't even have 10 hours in it. After 300+ hours, here is what it is like: -borderland style items and damage system, it feels like it's an arcade game, lame for an RPG -stupid contrast lighting that makes it impossible to drive in FPV during the day as the inside of the car is dark and the outside is overexposed and you can't see anything -cars are underdeveloped, they feel like soap bars; bikes are just broken -the story is kinda short (apparently snowflakes where crying that the Witcher III main was too long, I don't see how that can be a problem personally but CDPR decided as a result to make a shorter main story and couple of hours long side quests) -picking up items from the ground is a pain -can't get out of water is there isn't a stair or ladder (can't pull yourself on a ledge) ------with game like Deus Ex and Fallout series, there is so MUCH mechanics that could have been implemented to make it the best RPG of the decade (especially for the craft and upgrades, screw borderland DPS mechanic) +- depending on your view, a ton of tertiary mission (you help the police and kill some baddies a lot, kinda boring after a while, very similar to what I saw in Witcher III with the harpies' nest or whatever that was) +it is gorgeous (9900k and 2080 and with some tweaks constant 60fps with near max res everywhere, join the master race you console peasants) +hacking mechanic of the game is cool once you master it, adds a nice touch to the gameplay +I find it to be nicely replayable, and yes the different lifepath all lead to the same road but you can't get 3 games, stop whining, the options each give you during the main and side quest are kinda cool, and the main quest is interesting.
Skills, inventory management, upgrades (both your body and equipments), replayability, endings, even by modern standards this game set the bar high (looking at you Cyberpunk). A must have finished (and also, Deus Ex 2 "invisible war is garbage, don't even bother, the 3 is ok)
